Himmelbjerget Danish Camp

Velkommen til sommeren! Himmelbjerget is a week long Danish language and cultural summer camp for kids aged 10 to 18 located along the scenic Columbia River Gorge in Corbett, Oregon.

Since the summer of 1989, Himmelbjerget has been forging memories, friendships, and a connection to Denmark for our youngest generation of Danish-Americans here in the Pacific Northwest.

Throughout the week, campers will be exposed to Danish foods and snacks and will learn the Danish language through songs and games as well as in more formal language classes. Campers will learn how to play popular Danish school-yard games and will be taught traditional Danish folkdances. At the butik (camp store), campers can trade in their US Dollars for Kroner and purchase Danish treats, decor, or other goodies.

Campers can also expect plenty of other fun summer camp activities such as swimming, making crafts, creating skits, and getting into all sorts of shenanigans. Whether your camper is a novice to the culture or speaks the language fluently at home, Himmelbjerget is the perfect camp to foster curiosity and appreciation for the beautiful Scandinavian country of Denmark.

Himmelbjerget is a proud program of the Northwest Danish Association. NWDA is a 501c(3) non-profit organization headquartered in Seattle, Washington
